In this intent, we performed an historical cohort study based on computerized clinical records. Our study has been carried out in our dialysis department of a provincial hospital in a city in the north of Italy. To obtain adequate follow-up, we chose a period from January 1999 to July 2002. All patients clinically in a stable condition undergoing hemodialysis trice a week, with a complete bio-impedance analysis BIA ; BIA-109; RJL Akern System-Florence, Italy ; entered the study.
